Our commitment to quality

Quality

Your child's safety is important to us

That is why all Fehn toys and accessories are tested for safety and harmlessness by accredited, independent testing institutes.

The quality requirements for our products are based on applicable European and national legal regulations, as well as on future developments in the field of toy safety.

Basis of our quality requirements

European Toy Directive 2009/48/EC

The basis is primarily the requirements of the European Toy Directive 2009/48/EC and its implementation in the European Standard EN 71. This sets out comprehensive safety requirements and testing procedures for toys.

Fehn products are tested according to, among others:

  • EN 71-1 (Mechanical and physical properties)
Testing of construction, shape and size, seam strength, material processing, and safety-relevant mechanical properties.

  • EN 71-2 (Flammability)

  • EN 71-3 (Migration of certain elements)
Testing for the release of elements such as lead, chromium, or cadmium from accessible materials.

The execution of these tests is part of the conformity assessment procedure. With the CE mark ("Conformité Européenne"), Fehn, as the manufacturer, confirms that all applicable EU requirements for safety, health, and environmental protection are met.

Supplementary legal requirements

In addition, we take into account supplementary legal requirements such as the Product Safety Act, the Textile Labeling Act, the Food and Feed Code (LFGB), and the Consumer Goods Ordinance. These include requirements for materials, labeling, and the saliva and perspiration fastness of textiles.

Paradise Toys – in-house production in Sri Lanka

As a manufacturer of quality toys for babies, safety and harmlessness are paramount for Fehn. That is why Fehn has opted against external suppliers and relies on its own company sites in Sri Lanka with production according to German quality standards.

The production company "Paradise Toys (Pvt.) Ltd." was founded in 1994 by Arnold Fehn and belongs to the Fehn corporate family. With Arnold Fehn and Arnold Fehn Sr. as supervisory board members of Paradise Toys, Fehn once again demonstrates that "family business" can be taken literally here.

Our Sri Lankan employees are just as much a part of the Fehn corporate family as our employees in Germany. Since 1995, the current General Manager Neil Fernando has been managing the sites in Sri Lanka and personally ensures on-site that German standards are maintained and all raw materials are safely tested and processed.

Paradise Toys employs around 1800 people at its various locations, offering them secure employment under fair working conditions.

Employees of Paradise Toys in Sri Lanka

The production facilities in Sri Lanka are regularly audited according to the guidelines of the Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI), an initiative to improve global working conditions, and are also certified according to ISO 9001. The international quality management standard ISO 9001 defines the requirements that a company's management system must meet to maintain the defined standard in quality management. Permanent internal analysis of the raw materials used, strict quality control of the final products, and continuous improvement of control measures ensure stable quality assurance.

The permanent in-house analysis of the raw materials used, strict quality control of the end products, and the continuous development of control measures ensure reliable quality assurance.

Over 75 years of experience in the design and manufacture of toys, as well as the close contact between product design in Rödental and production in Sri Lanka, stand for the play value, quality, and safety of Fehn products.
